Yacht Building/Refit Project Management of EYM

The Process/Activities

  • The process begins with an initial meeting/consultation between the Yacht Owner/Owner Representative, exterior and interior designer or yacht broker, and EYM representative(s). During this meeting/consultation, all administrative and technical issues that will be required within the scope of the contract are discussed with the customer, as well as special needs and requirements to manage the construction/refit process, in conjunction with the financial management.
  • Following the initial assessment, EYM conducts a needs assessment, including the special services required to meet the Yacht Owner’s needs. Accordingly, the suitability of business and operation strategies is checked. Market conditions, existing business relationships, and personnel and workforce are evaluated. In case of purchasing services/products from subcontractors, subcontractor authority and responsibility limits are determined.
  • By the kick off of yacht construction/refit, Yacht Building/Refit Project Management will then also cover the control of the management of the logistics of materials including those to be provided by the customer such as equipment devices and other similar equipment to be used in the yacht construction/refit process. In addition to all, the suitability of the storage conditions of all materials, equipment, devices and equipment to be stored and/or stocked is to be audited.
  • The control of the execution of all yacht construction and interior furnishings will be done in accordance with the Project Implementation Plan (PIP), and if necessary along with the control of the maintenance of the equipment, device and equipment sub-processes etc.
  • And also; FAT, SWT-IT, HAT SAT and Delivery Sailing Tests phases, and covering the Warranty Period of the yacht will be undertaken.
  • During all these processes quality control management and financial management of the project could be controlled and managed on behalf of the Yacht Owner.

Epilogue

Throughout the Yacht Building/Refit Project Management, answers to the following questions are sought by us and the process is managed according to these answers.

  • How will we achieve our goals (tasks, projects, etc.)? What activities are required?
  • How much will it take? How can we provide the shortest time?
  • What resources do we need?
  • Will the shipyard’s own manpower and/or own infrastructure, or a sub-contractor (external provider) be used?
  • What will the costs and total cost be? How can we minimize the costs?
  • How should we adjust the cash flow? What are the “milestones”?
  • What are the risks? How can we minimize and manage the risks?
  • How can we ensure a smooth flow of activities and coordinate resources?
  • How do the changes affect our project?
  • Are we on the right track with the “Plan and Budget”?
