IMO documents of compliance permit us to manage commercial yachts over 500 GT in accordance with the ISM Code. However, whether operating as a private or commercial yacht, the standards of safety required by the law should be considered as a minimum standard to be maintained at all costs and exceeded, on a voluntary basis, wherever practical.
Implementation of a Flag Administration approved ISM Safety Management System on board the yacht and assisting the yacht in producing yacht-specific procedures is also a crucial part of our job.
MLC establishes minimum requirements for seafarers including conditions of employment, hours of work and rest, accommodation, recreational facilities, food and catering, health protection, medical care, welfare and social security protection. The certification and inspection of on-board working and living conditions is not mandatory for vessels under 500 GT but, we recommend that yacht owners of all commercially registered yachts to apply for a Statement of Compliance to satisfy Port State Control inspectors.
